Zufan Seid Wodajo

My name is Zufan Seid Wodajo. I am single. I am from Ethiopia. I was born to a Muslim family and so, I was Muslim. I learnt the basics of Islam when I was a kid. I followed the way of Muhammed until I came to know Jesus. The Sheik, thought us Allah sent four different books to different prophets. The last one which is sent to Muhammed is preserved as it is sent and we are admonished to use it for our daily lives. The rest are perverted or altered. So, it is not allowed to read them and use them for a muslim. At this point, I questioned them and wanted to read those books. For along time it was not possible. When I was college student, I got the opportunityto read it from one of my dormmate. However, it was not easy to understand it. After the reading, I started to question many things to know the truth. For three consequitive years, my heart was divided Islam. Later, God came to me through dream and told me following Jesus is the way to life. Then I decided to follow Jesus and accepted Him as my personal Lord and Savior. Consequently, I was marginalized for two years. In addition to my own questions, my family and fellow students brought some confusing questions concerning my new faith. I went to Church and asked , however, it was not satisfactory.

Surely, I was just convicted and got the witness of the Holy Spirit. But I could not explain or answer all the questions. I prayed to the Lord. He asked me to follow Him by faith, and promised to give me the chance to study the Bible in an academic class. In fact, it was strange to me. I had no idea about Bible College or Seminary. Later on Christians gave me the information about it. After three years, God took me to Addis Ababa Bible College and studied Bible and Theology. Now I am at NEGST studying the Bible as God promised me earlier.

I can say, next to my conversion, I knew God called me to be in ministry. Prior to my conversion, I had a dream. The dream included a call to live my father’s house and everything, to follow Jesus and serve Him as I understood it later. God spoke to me in different ways. Above of all, I am convinced about it and love to serve Him. Though I worked for a Bank., day after day the burden became more stronger in my heart. The courses I took, impacted my life in relation to my ministry. These are: Introduction to Mission , Introduction to Islam and Developing Mission Sending Agency. I came to realize this is the work God wants me to do. I was involved in teaching and prayer ministry in my local church in Gubae Egziabher Church. However, I was not a full time minister since I was working in a Bank and studying theology in the evening class. I finished my study on May 2007, and came to NEGST directly. So, I had no chance to join full time ministry but I was involved in part time ministry.

I came to NEGST, to sharpen my skill and to be well equiped for the work ahead of me. God willing, my plan is to go back home, teach in Bible College which is under my denomination, and helping the church to open Missions Dept. to send cross-cultural workers. Especially to reach muslims in Ethiopia, East Africa and Middle East. My goal is to observe the insights of my Professors’ and develop a new perspective to reach muslims. I want to be an expert in this area to know Jesus more and make Him known.
