  • African Churches To Meet Government Standards

Pastors’ Training one Component The government of Rwanda is one of the first African countries to close churches who do not meet governmental standards1. While some standards focus on building codes, other standards require pastors to be certified with a degree and a “certificate in religious studies”. According to estimates from the Association of Evangelicals…

  • November 2025 at NEGST

I was on the AIU campus in mid-November for meetings. While there I had lunch with seventeen NEGST students who are able to attend NEGST because of the generosity of Americans’ support for them given through CLA.  Listening to their stories of how they came to Christ, how some are from war torn areas, and how they feel the Lord is leading them to a life of ministry was tremendously encouraging.  While it is reported that the church in the West is in decline and losing its Scriptural foundations, it is clear that this community of students in the heart of the Global South is on fire for our Lord.

  • NEGST Awards Degrees to 89 Students

In July 2025, NEGST celebrated the 40th anniversary of its first graduating class.  That class of five was the forerunner of this year’s class of 89!  This year’s graduates included:  22 diplomas; 35 baccalaureates, 11 MTh, 9 MDiv, and 7 PhD degrees; and another 5 post-graduate diplomas.  These 89 individuals are now further equipped to preach the Good News to a needy generation.  Many of these students are currently serving as pastors or church workers and will continue with their church, now better equipped.  Others will assume new roles as teachers and church leaders.  We thank God for His provision.

  • Praise God! NEGST is 40!

This past July, a special celebration was held to acknowledge the 40th Anniversary of the first graduating class of the Nairobi Evangelical Graduate School of Theology. Faculty and staff, alumni, students, and friends of the school came together for the celebration held in the Chapel of Africa International University, of which NEGST is its School of Theology.  It was a joyous occasion of lectures, special addresses, African dance, and anniversary cake!

  • Mission to Moyale 2025

From April 28 to May 5, 30 NEGST students and faculty members, led by Prof. Josephine Mutuku, went to the Moyale area of Northwest Kenya. The Moyale region is predominately Muslim and sits on the border with Ethiopia. Joining with local pastors, the team did street evangelism, visited homes, and conducted services in small local churches. Over 200 Bibles in the local Bora language were given out and copies of the Africa Bible Commentary were given to local pastors. This region has often suffered religious and tribal conflict.
