Mission to Moyale 2025

Preaching at the market

Preaching at the market

From April 28 to May 5, 30 NEGST students and faculty members, led by Prof. Josephine Mutuku, went to the Moyale area of Northwest Kenya.  The Moyale region is predominately Muslim and sits on the border with Ethiopia.  Joining with local pastors, the team did street evangelism, visited homes, and conducted services in small local churches.   Over 200 Bibles in the local Bora language were given out and copies of the Africa Bible Commentary were given to local pastors.  This region has often suffered religious and tribal conflict.  Donors to CLA provided over $3,700 which was sufficient to cover all of the expenses, including the Bibles and Bible commentaries.

Prof.  Mutuku training local pastors

The team was cautious and respectful of the local culture, security, and manner of dress.  Nearly 1,000 adults and children were exposed to the gospel, and, thanks be to God, all conversations were cordial and respectful and were received with respect.

Bible teaching

Although there were no physical or verbal confrontations, the enmity of Satan was palpable.  Yet through the efforts of the local pastors and the missions’ team, God led 78 adults and 203 children to pray to receive Jesus as Savior, some even in areas with no local Christian witness.  Follow up and discipleship of all 281 new believers is being conducted by local church pastors under the leadership of Bishop Abraham.

Please pray for the Moyale trip in:

  • Thanksgiving to God for calling, preparing, and sustaining the members of the team;
  • For the 281 new believers in Christ, that they may grow in spiritual maturity;
  • For the local Bora churches and their pastors as they disciple these new believers;
  • For the many local Christians who participated in the evangelistic campaign;

For Professor Mutuku and the NEGST Missions faculty dissect the trip to determine what lessons learned can be adopted for other mission efforts to Muslims
